dc.description.abstract An examination of eastern tradition on materials in contemporary architecture –special reference to Sri Lankan tradition, the study is an attempt to comprehend the application of materials in eastern tradition based architecture and its present situation with modern high tech materials. Here the specially consider about the expression qualities of the materials and its usage in contemporary architecture. Though this study is aimed for identify the correct way of use materials when synthesis the tradition and modernity in architecture. Because it makes somewhat difficulties in Eastern tradition based counties in third world, especially in Asian region. Contemporary Sri Lankan architecture, that also fully influenced by modern high tech materials but used in meaninglessly. Therefore it is important to study the use of materials in meaning fully and according to the indigenous traditions in architecture.
